Gun-a-noot was accused of having shot and killed Alex MacIntosh and Max LeClair in 1906. He fled along with Peter Hi-ma-dan. They evaded capture for 13 years until they turned themselves in and they were both acquitted.
Hazelton was the focal point of the northern pack trails. Pack trains were used to pack supplies to Telkwa and Aldermere, used by gold prospectors, and to supply the telegraph cabins. Mules were favoured because they didn't tire as easily as horses.
