This small hard, black rock is round like a ball with a slight indentation on one side. Tiny porous holes exist through surface.
History Of Use
Rock sample has no history available other than the donor Winnie Robinson. Tony L'Orsa has identified this round rock as a andesite which was formed by constant water action which eventually rounded the round to almost a perfect sphere.

Description
A-Agate sample is oval, thin with two polished faces and rough edges. See through butterscotch color with a 3/4cm thick brown ring circling 3cm from the center point. Closer to the center are a series of lighter and darker caramel colored ring. Measurements 10cm by 5.5cm by .5cm. B-Agate sample is oval, thin with two polished faces and rough edges. Carmel colors circling 1cm from the edge with blue-grey colors in center. Measurements 15cm by 8.5cm by .5cm.
History Of Use
These samples of agate were donated by the late Ernest Hann of Smithers. Agate, which is a form of chalcedony or quartz is characterized by curved bands or zones of differing colors.
